Why learn spanish in Tenerife ?

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and it is called the “island of the eternal spring” The island is volcanic in origin and if you do not fear heights you can climb the 3000 metres high volcano Mount Teide. You will enjoy excellent views over the island. Mild temperatures all year round and breathtaking landscapes combined with friendly people and tasty food make Tenerife one of the favourite destination ever. Puerto de la Cruz is located at a few kilometres from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and it is one of the most interesting city of the Canary Islands.

There are plenty of attractions here. Visit the XVII century San Felipe Castle and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia. Do not miss the XIX century Hotel Taoro, which is the longest established hotel business of the Canary Islands, and the XVIII century Sitio Litre house, which hosted some famous people such as the novelist Agatha Christie and the explorer Alexander von Humboldt. Playa del Jardín is the most famous beach of Puerto de la Cruz. This astonishing black sand beach was designed by César Marinque and it is divided in three parts, Playa del Charcón, Playa del Castillo and Playa de Punta Brava. Lago Martinez, which was designed by César Marinque, is a real earthly paradise and it is well worth a visit. Puerto de la Cruz abounds in festivities and celebrations and its cultural programme is really amazing. Do not miss the impressive procession of Virgen del Carmen y San Telmo with its incredible fireworks. On Virgen del Carmen y San Telmo eve local people go to Playa de San Telmo, where the traditional Sardinada takes place. People eat spicy sardines and spend all night on the beach singing and dancing.

The traditional Carnaval Internacional del Puerto de La Cruz is one of the best expression of the local folklore. Every year Calle Mueca hosts the Festival Internacional de Arte and San Felipe castle hosts the Certamen de Arte Joven, which is one the most important exhibition for young artists. Puerto de la Cruz is the ideal place to study Spanish and live an unforgettable experience in one of the most charming island of the world!
